Pros
A free ski pass from Vail is a great bonus and access to employee housing makes living in Summit County affordable.
Cons
Start the job with plenty of savings. During January and February work slows down a lot. You might be on the schedule for 5 days, but as a new instructor you may only get a couple days of work when the season is slow. Then come March you will work every day for weeks straight and it becomes exhausting. It can be a really fun job, but come with realistic expectations that it can be hard to live off of and a lot of people get second jobs at local bars or stores. It also becomes disheartening as you see your clients pay $1000 for a private lesson with you and you walk away with $80 for the day and still have to go work a second job to afford rent in a ski town.
