The good thing in working at VMware it to be a part of the most exciting, advanced technology company. This is a good place to create connections / networking in IT industry.

Cons

Sectionalism - Operation is not so much effective. Poor delegation - micro management style had not been changing since VMware was 100 people company until now its even over 6000 people company. As a result, the decision making process is sometime very slow. American centric and no torelance to local commercial custom made it difficult to be strong in non English countries.

Great brand, great technology, great sales culture, especially sales management.

Cons

- They are a one trick pony with their ESX product. Everything centers around that and that's what most departments know how to do. All other initiatives have a hard time getting off the ground. - A bit arrogant because of their success. This will be a problem as they get more competition. - A lot of internal processes and red tape (more than other similar enterprise software companies). This limits creativity and flexibility. Too top driven by Diane Green, this should be rersolved now.
