      Pros

      Nice Campus, Nice food perks. Good salary for newcomers.

      Cons

      No support for real change. This company needs to grow up. Back Office, IT addicted to Triage and Heroism rather than planning. Disfunction in leadership, or lack thereof. Lots of Long term employees - this has been their only job. Protecting what staff know rather than supporting and helping new staff to help the company scale. People are disposable. If you don't fit right away i.e. subscribe to the existing politics, you are OUT.

      Pros

      The work is very rewarding because you learn new technologies in a very rapidly growing field. You also meet all kinds of customers around the coutry or possibly the world. It's a very exciting job that never gets boring. VMware invests heavily on training, more than other companies I've worked for.

      Cons

      The travel can be anywhere from 50% to 75% depending on your location and specialties. The work week is typically Monday-Friday. Travel can be challenging with a family.

      Great company, but the support management is pure amateur hour

      Pros

      It is THE place to be for the upcoming cloud computing field. Seems to be a good company as long as you're outside the support (GSS) organization.

      Cons

      GSS management is pure amateur hour. They change to one side this month, and next month, are changing back to the way it used to be. Complete joke. Also, factor-in the ~18% pay cut in the "reclassification" to hourly for the support engineers and you end-up making less than you made when you started years ago! No matter what anyone tells you, this is a call center and driven entirely by metrics and making you pump the call volume.
