Pros

It's a job, and I was thankful for that.

Cons

You'll EVENTUALLY reach your goal, but it may take a long time. In order to to get insurance benefits, an employee must work for for so many hours per week, for so many months, only your schedule is determined by the department. Just before you qualify for benefits, the department will purposely Cut your hours back, and you'll automatically have to start your time all over again. Classy.
