Pros

There isn't much to say here.

Cons

- Toxic and blaming culture. Your managers will not hesitate to throw you under the bus. This is not an isolated incident and it has happened to me and others on different teams. - Bait and switch hiring tactic. HR and recruiters will blatantly lie to get you to sign an offer. It's very common to see engineers forced to work on something that they didn't sign up for. - So many fake reviews posted by HR. You don't have to look to hard to spot them. - All work and no life. - Unity is not invested in its employees. They don't care about your career and personal growth. This is reflected in their performance review process which only focuses on how much you have sacrificed for the company.

It’s hard for me to reply to this review and the other reviews you wrote. I can see you are angry and seem to be in pain, which troubles me. From time to time we have employees who find themselves on a team or project that they aren’t happy about. They go to their manager or if their manager is the problem they go to the next level leader, another leader, HR or even our CEO. Unity is a very approachable culture. I’m not sure why you don’t feel you can do that but encourage you to try it. I promise you if you reach out to me or even John, you will be listened to and get an immediate response. The conversation will be confidential. Unity is filled with examples of employees sharing what’s not working as well as what is. They are engaged in making it better. If you join one of our internal Slack channels and in the round tables you would see the tremendous passion from the employees both for our customers but also for our company. Massive passion and pride. It would be great if you can reach out so we can address your situation. Elizabeth Brown--Unity Head of HR

Pros

Wellness benefits. Work can be flexible if you are not a coder. If you are a coder, expect to work around the clock because your manager can't manage project. Free lunch and snacks. Health insurance.

Cons

Bad middle managers and lead with limited technical awareness and lack of project management experience. Tech lead that is just cruising along doing nothing and taking all the credits from their direct reports.

Thanks for posting, and apologies about your experience, sounds really demotivating. As head of R&D this is valuable for me. I encourage you to ping me directly so we can discuss though. Nobody wants to work in a place where leadership fails to add value and help you succeed, and it's certainly not the Unity way of doing things. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Pros

The company is very well know, highly respected and making a lot of money. High likelihood for a successful exit.

Cons

Office politics cripple production. Red tape is everywhere. You'll need 13 managers to approve a project before you can get started anything. The pace is slow and demotivational. If you do manage to accomplish something, the management will take credit and ignore your efforts. Lastly, the company is remarkably stingy with swag and perks.

Unity cares about our people and our culture, and the fact we move quickly. We have some of the best benefits in the industry, with 16 paid company holidays a year, generous vacation, outstanding work/life balance, and up to 20 weeks parental leave for new moms, dads, and adoptive parents.
