Thank you for your review. Glad you think Unity is a great company and that we are a game changing company! We wouldn't be the leading global technology company we are today if it weren't for our people. We prioritize our people and invest in their career progression and growth within the company. Our employees have three reviews per year, in which they have the opportunity to discuss their career goals and growth with their managers. Many of our employees have advanced their careers within the company, and at the fast rate that we are growing, there are many more potential opportunities for our employees to grow

Pros

Typical benefits of bay area tech company. Not a whole lot really. Interesting work will only get you so far.

Cons

Let's see, where should I start. Work life balance? Nope. I don't know how others get their WLB from. They're probably not in engineering. I know for a fact that it's a big FAT lie. Don't be surprised if you get messaged late at night for trivial things like: "Hey, how come your bug fix A isn't working in staging?" I had a very negative compensation review experience with my manager. We had an agreed upon increase but my actual increase was way lower than promised. Very disappointing. I also know a couple recent hires who were promised managerial positions got positioned as individual contributors as a result of team re-shuffling. Apparently, after talking to my colleagues, this bait-and-switch strategy is not uncommon. Measly stock options and compensation. You are expected to work hard until late night and on weekends, but don't expect that you are going to be rewarded for it. Overall, I wish I had not joined this organization.

It sucks you’re having a bad experience at Unity so far. We’d like to fix that. People absolutely need work/life balance, and while there are times in all organizations where we have to work extra hard to meet deadlines or support a customer in need, it should be the exception not the rule. It would be great if you could bring this up with your manager, or reach out to me (Brett), so we can get this addressed.
