Dream job!

Pros

The work feels meaningful and useful. Everybody working on Unity cares about Unity, as a product and as a company, and it's great to feel like you're truly collaborating every day. I get to travel to offices around the world, and make friends in different cities. I love the people I work with; my team are amazing, and my team lead is helpful, knowledgable and supportive. I feel respected and valued, and I don't feel like I have to tread carefully around people further up the chain of command - it's okay to tell people if I think they're wrong about something! There are active conversations about how to improve diversity, from company-wide initiative to small grassroots action taking place in individual offices. Unity is also great at providing support when people have stuff going on in their personal lives that might affect their work.

Cons

The employee experience seems to vary a lot from team to team, and there isn't a lot of accountability for team leads who encourage crunch or otherwise make work stressful for their team. If you were interviewing for a job at Unity I'd recommend asking about the team's culture and the team lead's management style.

Pros

Independence, challenging work, really smart coworkers, opportunity for growth, travel! Learned a lot in a short amount of time because of interesting products I’ve gotten to work on. I do feel cared about by my management as well.

Cons

Work that doesn’t necessarily change peoples’ lives for the better. I’m also constantly working to either get ahead or because I’m pressured to feel like I need to catch up to the velocity of my teammates. With growth, there’s also silo-feeling from other parts of company that I hope can be bridged.

Happiness is a Choice

Pros

I work in Engineering at Unity. I am building cool stuff that I am stoked about on a brilliant team. I came here with lots of other choices which still remain available to me. I like it here because I have a choice and a voice. If I don't like something, I let them know what I think we should do. Eventually it will get fixed, by them or my team and myself. I speak up because I hate complaining. I own my career, my goals, success and the path I am taking. The company is growing at an amazing rate, there are plenty of career paths and growth opportunities. Seize the Day.

Cons

This isn't heaven, it's work and I don't expect it to be. I will tell my boss or a leader here about the things I don't like. Glassdoor is not the forum for that for me. I don't believe in making cheap shots.
