Pros

The Montreal office is really great, the team is doing a great job to keep it very cool for employees. Free lunches, nice area, big office with all sorts of conveniences for employees. Overall I really enjoyed my time at Unity. I had access to a lot of benefits during 2021, including free courses to improve your skills, reimbursement of a lot of things (commute, sports), health insurance, free stocks, RRSP... As far as I am concerned, my day to day work was facilitated using the latest good practices in development, overall the tech stack we were using was pretty recent and we were using a microservice architecture.

Cons

"I have been part of the recent layoffs (2023), and to be honest, the mood changed during the last 10 months. Additionally, many benefits have been removed. I was expecting layoffs for my team, and although it's easy to say now, I believe it could have been handled differently. I think upper management could have been clearer earlier and attempted to optimize and reorganize teams after the merger with Iron Source. During the last layoffs, upper management was completely disconnected from the rest of the employees. The hybrid mode will be enforced, with no more remote employees and a mandatory requirement of 3 days at the office. Moreover, I believe it's the right time to consider other opportunities, as the company is not in good financial shape

Pros

- Very interesting tech and market space. High potential of what they could do.

Cons

- Poor roles & responsibilities at all levels of departments. No way to hold leadership or teams accountable - No data driven decisions. Chasing sales dollars - Sales and Engineering lead. despite repeated statements by leadership to wanting to be Product lead. - Lots of drinking their own cool aid... not real discussions of gaps and weakness in the market.
