Pros

Office in central location. Free snacks and drinks.

Cons

Very high turnover rate. I've seen almost entire teams leave over the course of a year. Increasing layers of management with lots of empire building and vacuous corporate jargon speak. Constant re-organising and re-purposing of teams with little sense of direction or purpose which leads to frustration and burnout.

Pros

Free food, drinks and snacks. Employees who love the product.

Cons

* Blame culture. Managers who don't take responsibility for their actions and will throw direct reports under the bus. * No work life balance. Working long hours is not only uncommon but it's EXPECTED at Unity. * Career growth? Forget about it. Performance review process at Unity is terrible. * Fake reviews by HR and upper management.

It’s hard for me to reply to this review and the other reviews you wrote. I can see you are angry and seem to be in pain, which troubles me. From time to time we have employees who find themselves on a team or project that they aren’t happy about. They go to their manager or if their manager is the problem they go to the next level leader, another leader, HR or even our CEO. Unity is a very approachable culture. I’m not sure why you don’t feel you can do that but encourage you to try it. I promise you if you reach out to me or even John, you will be listened to and get an immediate response. The conversation will be confidential. Unity is filled with examples of employees sharing what’s not working as well as what is. They are engaged in making it better. If you join one of our internal Slack channels and in the round tables you would see the tremendous passion from the employees both for our customers but also for our company. Massive passion and pride. It would be great if you can reach out so we can address your situation. Elizabeth Brown--Unity Head of HR

Pros

Cool office. Presence in gaming industry. Lunch and snacks. Game room.

Cons

Zero career growth. Zero promotion or merit based raises. Zero feedback cycle from your manager. Performance reviews are meaningless because it's nothing more than just a glorified 1:1. Your manager either forget or miscommunicate what you say during performance review. You get nothing out of these 3Qs. I think this structure is there just as a way to deny you raises.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like your manager is not skilled at handling performance, career or comp conversations or something is not clicking--sorry about that! Because there are lots of employees who get useful feedback from their managers (during 3Q or just normal days), get merit increases (some more than once a year) and even stock grant refreshers. It's a bummer you are having this experience and encourage you to talk with your manager, next level manager or someone in HR. Also you can reach out to me directly as well.
