Pros

The company legitimately believes in doing good, which is extremely uncommon and refreshing. The people at Unity are talented, personable and truly passionate about what they do; it is both empowering and inspiring to be surrounded by such remarkable individuals. Communicating with coworkers is delightfully easy regardless of their work experience or job title. Finally, there is generally a lot going on at Unity, with many opportunities to travel to various events and build meaningful connections with people from all over the globe.

Cons

The onboarding experience can be a little overwhelming, although this is slowly getting addressed. Sometimes it is challenging to get a big picture view of the company, although this is understandable due to the complex interconnection of the different teams within the organisation. Also, given how Unity has several large offices across multiple continents, collaborations can be tricky due to time zone differences.

Pros

I am truly inspired by the amazingly brilliant people I work with who make Unity come to life, and proud of the collective commitment to share our technology with others. At least once a week the atrium is taken over for an educational series or community event. It really motivates me to keep doing the hard work when I see the real impact we're having in peoples lives. I've been at other "Unicorn" SV companies, and have never experienced empowerment and transparency from leadership like I do here. I feel like I know the company's goals, how we're tracking to them, and how my work contributes. Not only do my departments leaders take the time to listen to everyone on the team, I believe they truly value the feedback and use it to make us better.

Cons

I expected for a company this size to have more standard operating procedures in place. It's the double-edge sword of empowerment- you can get the work done however you see fit, but that creates inefficiencies when working cross-functionally using different methods and approaches. I've already started to see improvements and I'm not worried about it long term.

Thank you for the feedback. We don't serve dinner as we actually want people to go home at night, but we do offer breakfast in some office locations (Bagels & Juice Bar in San Francisco on Wednesdays, and breakfast in Copenhagen all days!) . We don't have a fitness area but do offer gym reimbursement in the Americas- and showers in a lot of locations if you want to go out and workout on your own.
