Pros

I started off as a prestige consultant and worked my way up to management in a little over a year. The pay is comparable to other large retail chains. Love the environment!!! I have had other job offers, but just can't seem to leave Ulta behind. I love my team and my customers. Great gratis!

Cons

The training program is a joke. Ulta really needs to step up its game in this department. Sure anyone can sell Bare Minerals, Smashbox, and Urban Decay....but when we get new lines in and it's not a big name, we barely get enough information to be able to sell it. We hardly ever see our DM-although, members of management might be ok with it! Hours vs. workload is ridiculous. What they want us to accomplish in the small amount of time they give us is crazy. Also, when we are doing more business than the company forecasts, we can't add on hours.

Pros

Decent starting wage. (My) Co-workers were friendly and easy to get along with. You're not pushed to make sales unless you're down a considerable amount.

Cons

No raises or recognition at all for hard work, so don't go out of your way for them. Low hours. Rare advancement, the entire time I was there, only two people were promoted, but other than that, they brought in inexperienced (in both the cosmetic world and in managerial skills) "managers". Even if you tell you're manager of something, and she ok's it or tells you "that's a terrific idea!" and it could impact you negatively, you take the heat for it, NOT the manager.

Pros

work with makeup and skincare all day, being able to help clients find products right for them, the co workers are great.

Cons

training could be better, hiring more than enough people for as little hours they have, feel like employees aren't valued the way they should be
