Pros

I get to work with talented artists, designers, and managers everyday. We assist women in making themselves feel better. I receive recognition of a job well done and coaching when the job could be performed better. I receive education about brands from vendors weekly. Ulta has made me a better manager because they empower me to think on my feet. The world isn't going to just hand you an easy job. To expect that is to start out failing.

Cons

Payroll may be difficult but there is no difference with any other retail company out there. The beauty industry is stressful no matter where you work.

Pros

Employee discounts are probably the best reason to work for Ulta if you are into certain products that Ulta carries..

Cons

Management doesn't treat all employees equal, nor do they follow the rules that are implied to their employees, when there is a concern that you have with a manager it never seems to get resolved and when you call a district manager, you are lucky to get a call back.... Managers are never consistent in their own jobs and with employees, we basically become slaves right before a walk through because management never wants to reveal how they been actually running the store, If you are trying to look for employment with ulta and think this job is a resource of paying all your bills, Its not a job for you. Hours are given to you in the amount of sales that the store makes, and the hours you do get are very minimum, for example if you have a car payment this job will not help you, you are lucky to even get 15 hours a week...and it don't matter what department you are in and how much experience you have everyone makes the same amount which is minimum wage... another thing is, do not expect or count on hours given to you on your schedule because most often times management sends you home early, and if you are a closing associate management always likes to leave early for there own personal pleasures and are not considering the stores needs of maintenance and employees concerns of getting all there hours..Couple of times an associate would come into work and before they could even clock in they were told that their shift was cut, The lack of managements concerns in pre warning their employees of hours being cut or even a phone call to let you know that your shift has been cut is so unpredictable. I was surprised when an associate had mentioned that management forgot to call to let the employee know that her shift was cut.. Maybe employees should start calling in to work to make sure they are still scheduled for their shift so that they are not wasting their gas and time... Don't believe in open door policy nor believe when any manager says to go to them about any concerns or any conflict issues with another manager because it is never confidential as they say it is,
