Pros

Pay, don't have any other pros but I needed five words

Cons

Backstabbers; office politics; dangerous buildings filled with lead paint, asbestos, and mold; longgg hours; poor benefits (health insurance is unaffordable, no sick leave for subs, can't use annual and even if you could, it adds up so slowly that by the time you reach your unpaid mandatory break you'll need it to cover that, uniforms are hand-me-downs from others and filthy, getting new ones from management is like pulling teeth); dangerous conditions since you're not in neighborhoods when the regulars are more dogs will be out than when they deliver, angrier customers because you're not "on time"; management will assign you multiple routes but when you get injured it's your fault for not being safe; vehicles that give out noxious fumes and have no AC in summer and often no heat or defrost in winter, brakes give out frequently and I've even seen first-hand a time when I took out the key and the engine was still on...... I could keep going but I think you get the picture. RUN.

Pros

Pay rate is reallypretty decent to start, its also how they lure you in. You will get to know alot of people at work, most are very nice. You will get to know massive amounts of customers who are also mostly very nice. You will get hours, way more than you want. Ever.

Cons

** FIRST- this IS NOT a CIVIL SERVICE POSITION ANYMORE and has not been in 20 YEARS so keep this in mind when you goto take the test. The starting wage is listed at $22 TO START which is not true starting pay is $18 though. Also the job description lists benefits, you are not GIVEN benefits, but do have the option to pay for some relatively affordable BASIC benefits up to expensive good benefits. ** NEXT the turnover rate ( rate a CCA/ people quit) is well OVER 90% in factuality. Now honestly one would think that a job starting over $18 an hour would not have a turnover rate of 9 of every 10 people quitting. ** Post office is behind the 8 ball, they are so over budget always and run the post office as a business trying to get to a viable state. They push and squeeze a CCA to the point of exhaustion and injury, then fire them for not being careful and getting hurt. The end game is the CCA is cheap labor to fill gaps and sure up issues. **You will not often be able to have a day off, even if your scheduled for one. They will simply say that you are on stand-bye. ( they aren't supposedly able to do this, but they do, and often). **You will not have first pick of days off you need, IE for family, sick days, birthdays, funerals. You will be told that is not their concern, and your a CCA ( glorified temp) and you will only get the time if no one needs help. I had 2 deaths in the family, both times I was told "no we need you to be here, sorry". **You will be rushed to get massive amounts of work done in short time, and unfortunately if you do (run forest run!!))they will just give you more, and more. You will be rushed to the point that you begin to make mistakes and then you will be chastised for them. ** You will NOT EVER become a REGULAR for most likely a MINIMUM of 3 to 5 YEARS!!!! PERIOD!! ** Frankly this job will suck the sole out of you, if you do not drink, trust me you will. Also expect to have anxiety constantly, trouble sleeping to the point you need medication.

Pros

Good pay rate. Has a lot of hours (if you like it). Once you get a job with the United States post office, You can go anywhere in the United states if you apply yourself. You meet great people on the routes. You will love what you are doing, if postal carrier is for you. Great union. Plenty of great senior carriers that help you. I love my job.

Cons

If you have a family, it's hard. 6 days a week (because of amazon sundays). The holiday hours are very difficult. Management will take advantage of you (if you let them). Could be a very hard job if you aren't used to being outdoors.
