Pros

The US Postal Service is a pretty good career opportunity. It has great health benifits, good pay, retirement and leave time. Carriers are promoted based on a seniority level, which gives equal opportunity to all employees. You work everyday knowing that your job is important and that the service you provide is appreciated by "most". You get to meet alot of people in your community for which you may never have had the chance. Your customers are people that you grow to care about. Overall I would have to say that it is a pretty good career choice....for the money.

Cons

People do not understand what all their rural carrier does on a daily basis to ensure that their mail is delivered to them. They do not realize the hours we spend sorting the mail and casing the mail or the time constraint that we're under. Also, when you are an RCA you are always on call. Your hours are not guaranteed. Some weeks you will work everyday and the next you might work one day. You also have to do routes sometimes that you dont know which can be stressful. It is probably one of the hardest jobs out there....But the pay is great!!

Pros

Stability-As every town or city has a post office and everyone has to mail something therefore as long as people keep licking the back of stamps their doors will always be open. , Salary-when a person is paid well they do not mind working hard and when the salary is great they come to work. Recognition & Respect-when you are in your postal uniform you are someone people look forward to seeing. Community involvment-No matter how cold, harsh rain or snow someone will always be waiting on their mailman. Co-Workers-through their hard work and dedication the average postal employee has atleast 15-25 years of service and that speaks well for the postal organization as a whole.

Cons

The Wait...the process of getting in is (don't call us we'll call you)
