Pros

The database group is very well managed, the benefits are good, the staff is knowledgeable. Work from home is an option if you're a permanent employee. They have night and weekend shifts, which means you very rarely get called off-hours

Cons

With the current state of the USPS financially, what was once a secure government job now looks shaky. No raises for the foreseeable future. Their hands are tied unless Congress acts. It's a shame. I hope things change for the better because otherwise it's a great place. Lots of long term employees mean advancement can be a challenge.

Pros

secure job after first 90 days if you just do your job and go home benefits.....TSP savings, union protection, medical, holidays mostly off lots of overtime if you want it

Cons

nowadays....they expect you to do more work with less people as people retire or change positions, their job slots are not filled forced overtime for those who do not want it because of job slots not being filled their suppossedly stringent "NO" to everything policy deffinitely does NOT apply to everyone too hard to get hired on any longer these days for the average person
