In 30+ years, I’ve encountered some of the most ineffective leadership within USPS management. It’s baffling how the organization repeatedly promotes or hires individuals who clearly aren’t suited to lead. The service model is outdated; polling shows many people don’t want or need Saturday mail. Work-life balance is virtually nonexistent. The management culture is hostile, with constant micromanagement and disciplinary games instead of meaningful support. The physically demanding work feels unrewarding. Working off the clock is rampant when it shouldn’t be. Internal growth is stifled; opportunities are harder for insiders. Ultimately, USPS places unqualified individuals in management, poisons the environment, ignores employee input, and perpetuates a cycle that erodes morale and trust.
