Pros

Short commute, some friendly co-workers. Pay was alright.

Cons

Everything. The trucks that never get serviced & breakdown every day. Say they care about your safety but will still ask you if you feel comfortable driving when there’s NO brakes. They preach about this “zero tolerance policy” and literally throw it out the door when there’s a complaint made. Nothing rewarding about this job at all. The. Benefits aren’t even that great. Work environment was awful, toxic and just degrading. Don’t even think about asking for a day off for just general things like the doctor, they don’t care. Don’t get hurt and if you do, they’ll still work you to the bone and not let the injury heal. If you think you’re going to have any time to do anything….think again.

Pros

Good benefits if/when you become a regular employee (have your own route).

Cons

Very heavy package load because of USPS's deal with Amazon. If you are a sub carrier (RCA/CCA), then expect to be worked 10+ hour days, 7 days a week. Many of the regular carriers I know had to wait 5-10 years at least to get their own routes (on the rural side, city is different). Time spent as a sub does not count towards retirement. Routes are evaluated, meaning you only get paid for evaluated hours on a route, not actual hours worked. So, you could finish your route and then be made to cover 1/2 or more of another route when you get back to office and not get paid for it. Continually short-staffed. Management just sees bodies. Union reps' hands are tied on many issues that directly affect the welfare of employees, rendering them useless. Example: Working 6 days a week as a sub and then having to work Amazon Sunday. Rep could not do anything about it because Amazon Sunday is mandatory. Basically, some subs only get 1 or 2 days off a month, if that, depending on the office they work at. Also, Covid restrictions were not enforced- employees were not informed if an employee they worked with tested positive for Covid. Mask mandates weren't enforced. Equipment not disinfected. Bottom line: If you want a home life and don't want to be worked 60+ hours a week, then I would not recommend it.
