-Hard to financially survive on part-time/limited hours. -Requires own vehicle. Majority of time. Must deliver out of right hand side of vehicle. *Highly recommend rhd vehicle. I drive a 2014 Jeep Wrangler 4d rhd. Bought for 10k* - you have to be able to afford front the cost of gas for the route. Estimated $30-$60 per day depending on route mileage. -insurance must be full coverage. Can get pricey. -if your rural carrier takes time off/sick. You must work their route. On the route that you are hired for. Only routes you can say *no* to are for different routes/carriers. - the pay for a route varies depending on two variables. _1. The first 10 times you drive a route you are paid the base pay per hour for all hours worked on those days. _2. Route Evaluation, after the first 10 times you work a route. You will be paid the evaluation route pay. Ex: route evaluation is 6 hours, you work 7, you get paid for 6. Likewise if you finish route in 4hrs, you get paid for full 6hrs.
