Pros

I've been an rca for almost a year now, and even though there are some terrible days, I generally enjoy it. Coworkers are great, the mangers at my "home" station are awesome, both have been carriers so they understand it can be stressful and don't expect anyone to be super human. Good starting pay, good benefits once you become regular.

Cons

Very very very bad upper management. They really don't care about the carriers well being and have no problem pushing you to your limits. Flexibility in the schedule is very limited, even for an appointment. Those few bad carriers who call in regularily or are just plain lazy.

Pros

Great coworkers that were more than willing to help.

Cons

After working there for a year I was informed that I would have to take a pay cut to be hired on full time. There were no benefits and after my second year it became clear that I would have to remain with the company for 5 to 7 years in order to be able to work full time for them and start to receive benefits.

Pros

Once you hit the road, you are your own boss, as long as you finish in time. After working there for awhile, if a route is supposed to take 9 hours, and you are finished in 8, you still get 9 hours of pay. If you are good enough, you may be asked to service more than 1 route.

Cons

Getting the mail sorted and out the door so that you have enough time to deliver all of the mail.
