      UPS- Great Place to Be

      Pros

      UPS is a great, stable company. There are many opportunities for someone to advance their career. Many of the senior leadership started their careers unloading trucks part-time. That is motivating for a young person starting out.

      Cons

      Many of the "old-timers" are resistant to change. Because it is such a large company, it takes a long time to notice a change, much like making a left turn with a cruise ship- you don't really notice much at all.

      Pros

      UPS has an average compensation package for both part time and full time employees. No place is 100% safe but UPS also has pretty good job security especially for its union employees. In may jobs you are lucky to get a raise at all but at UPS you can always count on the 3%+ every year at the same time. They also have college tuition reimbursment for those looking to continue their education. UPS is especially great for women and minorities. They have MANY oportunities for advancement for both.

      Cons

      Depending upon the department you work for you may not get much family time. Many of the supervising jobs require MANY hours (60+ hours).

      Pros

      UPS offers a fairly good benifits package and salary. If you are lucky enough to work in a good area you might enjoy what you do.

      Cons

      The company is run by the motto "if its not perfect its not right." Be prepared for a LOT of stress and headache to earn your dollar. 99% just won't cut it...its all or nothing. Also, with the union there the hardest workers get used and abused, not managements fault...just the name of the game.
