Pros

Making a difference for children in need globally. Global organization with offices worldwide, working in multicultural teams, international opportunities, wonderful colleagues and diverse job profiles and opportunities.

Cons

Sometimes a bit of public sector bureaucracy. But UNICEF is probably the most efficient UN organization with few hierarchies and plenty of opportunities for staff

Pros

- lots of internal expertise - well respected organization that opens doors - good ability to mobilize resources - good pay

Cons

It is a UN agency and thus bureaucratic and risk averse. However if you are able to understand how the system works and make the system work for you, you can achieve a lot.

Great work but admin nightmare

Pros

The mission, obviously. The work environment.

Cons

The contract admin nightmare. 11 months per year max, x 4 years. Then you're done. Bye bye. No recourse. No benefits if contractor. A day rate and a thank you. Contractors are third class employee after General Services staff and Professional Staff, despite doing most of the actual work.
