Pros

-Global Impact: Direct contribution to improving children's lives worldwide through humanitarian and development work. -Prestige & Network: Association with a respected UN agency opens doors to a vast international professional network and career mobility. -Comprehensive Benefits: Competitive salary, health insurance, education grant, pension, and leave entitlements—especially strong for international staff.

Cons

-Bureaucracy & Slow Processes: Decision-making can be hindered by complex UN administrative systems and inter-agency politics. -Job Insecurity: Many roles are fixed-term or project-based, with frequent restructuring or post abolishment. -High-Stress Environments: Work in crisis zones or high-pressure HQ roles can lead to burnout

Great culture, flexible and good work life balance

Pros

I was in a contract role here for over 12 months and enjoyed the culture and flexibility. They are great at bringing staff together for events, internal training and other opportunities to increase engagement and stakeholder development. At the time, they also encouraged a 'no meeting day' to assist with work life balance.

Cons

Sometimes questionable in how they invest their money and the purpose of some of the roles in the organisation. The structure is a bit confusing.
