Pros

The salary is adequate and timely. Benefits for dependents

Cons

Toxic work environment. You need to flatter your supervisor and never disagree, or you will be fired.

Pros

Office is close to commuting /transport. Colleagues are usually normal. Offices are fine.

Cons

There is this phrase I heard: UNHCR eats you then spits you out. Salaries if you are among General staff is not as good as you`d expect, pluse there is a lot to do, forget you initial job description ;) No benefits at all. Company rarely support real, effective studies. Budapest office is quite boring.

Bureaucracy

Pros

Huge operation and organization with lots of resources, fair compensation and benefits, colleagues from all over the world, engaging and meaningful work (sometimes)

Cons

De facto class system that heavily favors international staff, hierarchical top-down structure that paralyzes middle management and junior staff and hampers necessary change and action, plenty of staff in comfy senior management positions not pulling their weight. Realistically difficult to move up or around in the organization without connections.
