Great mission but no support from management
Pros
- I loved my job and (most) of my colleagues. It seemed like half were the best most committed humans who invested a lot into the work, sometimes taking on too much and depriving themselves of rest and a social life - and the rest just criticised, claimed credit and just created obstacles. We'd often say some people have skills and some people have drama, believing that in the end the right people got to shine but that didn't come to pass.
Cons
The sad reality is that I left in complete burn out, feeling like I had failed when in fact it's management that had failed me. I was often told that I was good at my job but it didn't translate into job security nor did it shield me from abusive and unprofessional behaviours. On top of it all we have these narcissistic heads of unit/deparments who think they can interfere in our work and just create more drama . I left because I didn't believe in my leadership from the one who weaponized empathy, the one who decided to end your career if you didn't give her attention, and the ones who don't even know who actually does the work. I loved the organization, the mission, (most) of the people but I'm proud I was able to move on.
