Pros

Great weather, close to the beach, world-class facilities, highly intelligent and mostly personable professors. Most facilities used for research are relatively new.

Cons

Dealing with the personality of LA people, no campus bar, little appreciation by the UCLA community, compensation not commensurate with effort required or cost-of-living

Pros

Flexible environment, lots of smart people, lot of dumb people. Very big place so YMMV in different departments - very decent benefits although things are changing.

Cons

Very difficult to advance without transferring around to different departments. A lot of deadwood employees just hanging around to collect retirement. Having to deal with faculty can be a headache sometimes.

Pros

Nice-looking campus, benefits and retirement pension, job security, good work-life balance.

Cons

As a public institution, there is no innovation or newness within the office; neither the aesthetics nor general operations.
