Pros

Plentiful advanced research resources in including the new CNSI facilities. The campus and the Westwood neighborhood are safe and beautiful. Intelligent fellow researchers and graduate students.

Cons

The living expense to quality ratio (in greater LA) is low, especially considering postdocs salaries. The department (Electrical Engineering) doesn't promote sharing of research resources.

Pros

Working at Ackerman is a great way to earn extra money on campus. With a flexible schedule it is easy to work before, after, or in between classes.

Cons

There is not much room for advancement salary wise. The current economy allows for no raises, and even if promoted only a small per hour increase.

Okay for students, but could be better

Pros

If you live near campus, this is your easiest option. Applying is easy, but hard to get a spot when there are so many applicants already.

Cons

Because of union laws, we're not allowed to earn tips -- not a very good incentive to work more. Also, the hours for working becomes more burdensome during finals week.
