Pros

The folks who work here are highly motivated to work with under-represented community college/high school students. Their work positively influences many lives. Employees will also be impacted by the students they work with. Very diverse group (age, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation).

Cons

With many student employees who are focused on their schoolwork (as they should be), the office can get a little disorganized at times.

Pros

It was really hands on and gave me a lot of opportunity to learn and grow on my own. My boss gave me a chance to plan multiple larger events and although it was difficult, it was extremely fun.

Cons

I had very little guidance. Most of the time I had to figure it out by myself. At the time, I work with two other part-time students to make sure all our events pulled through. I went in being told I only needed to work 10-12 hours a week but ended up being there more so than going to class so I could get things done. After a year, I decided to leave along with the other two part-time students and I heard they then decided to hire four additional people (three of which are full time workers ) to do the work that the three of us did. I felt underpaid and overworked.
