Pros

-They hire go getters that work well on a team. I made some amazing friends in the office and overseas that will last for years. -Satisfying and relevant work that keeps you interested -Training is a mixed bag depending on your team lead, but most people throughout the company understand where new people are coming from and keep things low stakes initially to warm you up. -Very independent work if that’s your style -Goals are clear -My manager was very kind, intelligent, and supportive. There are great people like them throughout the company. -Quarterly bonuses based on team impact (at managers’ discretion)

Cons

-Financial accountability/transparency is concerning. Partially due to COVID, pay structure was changed after promotions were given and a quarterly back payment program was implemented to supplement the difference between what was initially promised to promoted employees and the new structure. This was not recognized by HR as a salary increase (although it was implemented to directly supplement salary), getting any amounts in writing was nearly impossible (only verbal or video call confirmation), and your manager is responsible for remembering to get it to you on time. -Adding to the above, it feels like the same tactics we are taught to use to underpay linguists are used for employees. -I’ve learned about changes in overtime pay through Glassdoor rather than the company. -No/low quality company issued technology -Workload can be very high for months on end with no relief or plan for relief in place -Burnout is frequent -Not much room or time for growth outside of management or PMing -Turnover is high so it can be difficult to stabilize workload when a team is mostly new hires in training

Pros

The office has some pretty nice facilities and fruits in the kitchen, but that's all

Cons

- strong micro-management - fake atmosphere - expect you to stay overtime, even though they do not pay extra for that nor do they let you leave earlier some other day in return - terrible work-life balance - open space area is huge and loud, there are no partitions between desks, so it makes it harder to focus

Pros

Some good people that are worth investing in. New NY office space was nice pre covid.

Cons

* The pay is atrocious. They will pull you in with promises of raises that you will never get. We continued to get emails from the CEO and other executives bragging about how much money we made over COVID, meanwhile all raises were cancelled or delayed (for well over a year). * They restructured the entire production department in a way that essentially demoted people and decreased their pay, then couldn't understand why people were upset and quitting. * The work is repetitive and easy but entirely too much for any one person to complete in a normal work day. You'll always be working overtime, and you likely wont be paid for it. In NY they use the predatory pay scheme called "flexible work week" where you are always paid your "salary" but your overtime is paid at 50% or less. You'll never work less than 40 hours a week so it's useless. They just do it as a loop hole to avoid NYC's salary minimum wage. * Throughout all of COVID they did not provide us with laptops, a stipend, anything. We all worked on our own personal computers. * They expect PMs to reason with translators to get them to do GREAT work for PENNIES. Most PMs do not speak another language. For those of us that do, we see just how bad the content is. Which really is to be expected when they want you to completely rob translators for the work they are doing. I could go on, but I've left the company and am so much happier. I wish I had known how bad it was or taken these reviews to heart. If you have a great manager and team, you could really enjoy a few years growing here, but you wont move up unless you drink the koolaid. It's a decent place for recent grads looking to gain some experience and a small paycheck, but get out as soon as you can. You will learn more and make more elsewhere.
