      A company with great engineering traditions but being run into the ground by accountants.

      Great engineering traditions Strong market position Very Broad product line great talented employees One of the best employers in our area of wisconcin employees are genuinely trying to make a difference

      Accountants who don't understand our business and have short sighted goals running a company that needs long term thinking.

      Pros

      Good company for long term employees who seek stability and are comfortable with the status quo. This is an industry that will likely last for many decades (locks) with a fairly steady revenue stream.

      Cons

      Managers don't have authority to be change agents or real managers. Lip service was paid to change. Virtually all decisions had to be reviewed/approved by the GM, a "change resistant decades resident staff" and a compliant HR. Old ways were relished. Risk adverse. Metrics for show. Expeditor mentality. New processes quickly erode away due to lack of support. Old problems were readdressed year after year. No place for a mover/shaker.

      Pros

      Good paying company. Good management from top with lean methodolgy.

      Cons

      However, allot of talk on local level not adressessing machine down time. There were too many work arounds and putting out fires instead of investing in maintenance supervisor and collecting data on down time and a preventitive maintenance program.
