Pros

1. If you have a good boss, consider yourself lucky. 2. 9.00~5.45 working hours, many people leave on the dot. 3. Company gives free zoo passes, recreational park passes for families, and gym for staff. 4. No matter how badly you do at work, you'll never be fired! Unless you install a peeping camera in the toilet...

Cons

1. 2(!) layers of attendance marking, one with your card and the second using a finger scanner! Asinine. 2. Japanese have a carte blanche to do whatever they want in the company eg. too many unnecessary "entertainment" which can be up to SGD 6K at one time for drinks at "gentleman's" bars. Utter disgrace and waste of resources. 3. Many ladies who get promoted by drinking with top management and behaving like call girls. I get it, Japan wants to show it promotes women but please promote the right women, not those who rely solely on their political skills and not their capability or lack thereof. 4. Salary is way below market level, your so-called "high" variable bonus is the standard bonus in so many companies. 5. CEO should start to walk the talk. Been hearing his talk about embracing change and diversity for way too long but the status quo is still being maintained and enforced.

Pros

a good place for retirement

Cons

They do not invest in their people (Only on the heavy weight Japanese, forget about developing any locals, it's a Japanese company) No guts to make changes, neither do they have any direction. Pure paperwork and system inputs. layers and layers, so forget about career progression, it is as simple as wait 3 years to be promoted according to HR Rules.....not on merit or performance. (It is about who has sat longer in the company) A lot of redundant drinking and Japanese entertainment. People change their faces very fast especially the DGMs in front of their Japanese emperors, disgusting. They even have Japanese expatriate putting cameras in the toilet and got Pay is horribly low, do not fall for their so called high variable bonuses, its variable in the first place. I pity the HR.
