Pros

Genuinely good people; misery loves company but the company is good. Total is the perfect place if you're fresh out of school or if you've been put out to pasture and simply want to finish the 2-3 years before retirement in a stress free environment. Think Adult Retirement Daycare Center.

Cons

Incompetent management from the top down. There is a mass exodus of engineers, chemists, and operators leaving the company. The safety program is in shambles with the new shared services consolidation and it's only a matter of time before a catastrophic incident occurs. Poor communication and dismal morale. Chemists fresh out of school come in at a higher pay rate than tenured chemists. I don't know a single person here who isn't looking for another job at the moment, myself included.

Pros

Multi-National Oil Company, Challenging environment, diverse group of people to work with in and out of the company. Global company policies and culture is being passed on to the local office with their best effort.

Cons

Not much room for growth for high-potentials. Tenure is highly valued. Straightforward doing of business and working with colleagues may sometimes be difficult. Still a bit bureaucratic.
