Pros

Pay is not bad People are generally nice but depends on the team

Cons

Management do not care about staff morale whatsoever. The only priority is making money. Internal systems are ludicrously outdated to the point where you can barely get any work done at times. Absurdly sluggish computers and tools. Whole thing needs rebuilding from scratch. Still using ancient desktop boxes rather than modern laptops. People working hybrid have to lug the whole box home with them every time!! It is honestly laughable. Workload is absurd and only increases the longer you stay at the company. Doing a good job only gets more work piled on you. Account managers have ridiculous expectations and I saw people crying at their desk on multiple occasions. Horrible open plan office with people crammed in shoulder to shoulder. No privacy, nowhere to go if you need a few hours of quiet focus. Turnover is ridiculously high and it's no wonder considering the above.

Pros

TotalEnergies is a great place to work and the pay is good. The company invest in employees, there are many opportunities for training including leadership and coaching for managers. Work is challenging and complex which keeps you interested and never bored. Every day is different and you always learn something new. The company is making more efforts to provide opportunity to move around within the different affiliate companies. The tools available for internal job search are very helpful. Your soft skills as well as technical skills are taken into consideration providing more opportunities to move around the company. TotalEnergies has a multi-cultural environment with management stressing respect for all employees. When the Oil and Gas industry was struggling and laying off, Total did not lay off people. Overall this is definitely one of the better companies I have worked for in my 24 year career.

Cons

A lot of the upper management positions will be filled by Expats from Europe which only stay 2 to 3 years. While there may not be layoffs there are areas that have been outsourced to save money. Typically the outsourcing of groups does include layoffs or loss of jobs. In the US Total runs lean and continues to reduce budget every year. In the US one person does the work of 5 individuals, while in France this does not tend to be the same. A lot of positions are filled with contractors to reduce cost.

Pros

Nothing I can think of.

Cons

Micro management. Requires unnecessary face time even in covid times. Their handling of covid for staff is appalling. Staff sits on their desks taking concall with their masks down. People chatting over cubicles without wearing mask. Managers have lack of management skills. A good 70% of staff have been there for at least 7 years. They have no knowledge of what's going on outside. Expect lots of gaslighting and dismissive action from the top management. No career progression although it may seem there is. Local teams is made up of other nationalities other than singaporeans. They are constantly bashing smaller countries like SEA.
