Pros

Great benefits, decent pay. Almost all of the lawyers are really easy to get along with, great personalities. Most of the other legal assistants were easy to work with and very friendly. Great company events and employee social events.

Cons

It's pretty slow and most assistants spend a lot of time sitting, doing nothing. Not a great place to be if you want to learn a lot and gain some marketable skills and certifications. The tech support can get pretty testy when busy. Not much room for promotions or role upgrades. Some coworkers are petty and insecure, and resort to bullying and rude comments when someone comes along and disrupts their false role of "leader" that they basically appointed themselves to. Local HR makes snap decisions and then just continually buries you (there is no "fresh start" once you reach this point), wilfully misreads feedback to only count the minor negatives, doesn't give reviews when they should or say they will, judges your performance harshly when you're dealing with a personal crisis, doesn't ask you about situations they don't have full insight into, but makes assumptions (against you), and allows bullying to occur until it reaches critical mass. Super nope.

Pros

Good pay. Most lawyers are nice to work for. Good location.

Cons

Benefits are not competitive compared to other large firms. Staff morale is not good, used to be much better. Staff are treated like second class citizens (inferior benefits, no staff events, don't feel we are treated like a "person" more like a piece of office equipment) HR dept. doesn't listen or care to hear your concerns. Lack of flexibility- don't allow unpaid time.
