Pros

The best reason to work for Thomson Reuters is the people. They have done an excellent job of assembling some very talented folks. The problem is after awhile the ineptitude of the senior managment errodes away at that talent so much so that they leave the company.

Cons

The biggest downside is senior management. Too many of the senior managers spend the bulk of thier time "managing up" versus keeping the focus on the customers and empowering employees to deliver an outstanding work product.

Pros

benefits are good, especially now that vacation time has been made more typical (3 weeks rather than 2 for employees under 5 years)

Cons

Management likes to have meetings, not strategize or DO things. Promotions are not based on ability - if you can do something, they will not promote you. Instead, they will hire someone with no practical functional experience in the area to be managed.

Pros

i get to work with smart, interesting people in a fast-moving industry. thomson reuters is very good about rotating people through different functions and divisions, to ensure that your skill set is always growing and that you don't get bored easily.

Cons

thomson reuters is large company, which can sometimes makes for slow decisions. also, especially when you're out in the field, there's a sense that some of these decisions aren't as bottom-up as they potentially should be. it can be frustrating to have "Corporate" making decisions when they're often very removed from the on-the-ground situation.
