Pros

Keep in mind, experience will vary depending on specific store and district cultures. But it’s stable, consistent, fixed income. And it’s a Fairly easy Job to do if you can rub two brain cells together. Planograms, learning how to delegate tasks to MODs (Keyholders), and cover the store manager on their off days. Decent health insurance to a certain degree. Just covers basics.

Cons

Again, it really depends on your store manager and district area culture, but even though it’s a consistent pay and hours, you will be having completely random schedules every week. There’ll be trends where the schedules are a little predictibale but good luck if you have kids or ANYTHING else going on other than the vitamin shoppe. It is impossible to plan anything out in life. Even stuff like bodybuilding, or maybe you’re taking classes Outside work for certification, forget about it. And the health insurance in my experience will not cover certain prescriptions. United health care is stubborn and unforgiving for certain medical issues. Also, the pay is a joke. Even though it is fixed and consistent. Assistant managers in Illinois in particular are barely getting $1200 every 2 weeks. Which cannot cover rent, groceries, and utilities. If you’re not fortunate enough to live with parents, you will be homeless without a second job. And that second job unless it’s instacart and uber (which I've had to do) is impossible to maintain because of the completely random schedules every week. Also, if you’re wondering, there is no advancement even if in the interview they like to advertise it. Better be happy where you’re at. The store managers are stable at their pay and unless someone above you quits, not even a chance to move up or around.
