Pros

Demanding product, nice cars, company culture

Cons

Long working hours, HR very incompetent they cannot respond a simple question. Management does not care about employees, no direction. Managers and employees are fired daily in a short term without any reasoning. Everything is centralized and CEO decides in a simple question. Compensation is very bad. No retribution for commuting to work.

Pros

- sexy - the opportunity to work on projects that you would never get your hands on at a larger company - the experience: 1 year at Tesla is like 2 anywhere else - brilliant coworkers - collaborative environment for the most part - beautiful campus - you might get to actually drive one of the cars, maybe

Cons

- long hours, often weekends, no work/life balance for many employees - horrible review process, limited raises based on favoritism of upper management - pay is not competitive unless you're in HR or Firmware - will fire you at the drop of a hat, with no warning, even long time employees - yet keep around bad employees - no daily perks, unless you like cereal and free soda - parking is horrible - management uses the word "scrappy" often and it's true

Pros

Loved the atmosphere and the entire team. We all got along great and it just felt like a nice group. The managers would give good feedback and let you know when they felt you were doing great / not so great. It was a place that really welcomed innovation within the store rather than sticking to what a manual told us was best.

Cons

Unfortunately, I was laid off without notice in the middle of my shift one day. The managers looked truly upset that they were having to let a few of us go. Apparently some people at HQ looked at some metrics from their office and decided who they would let go without consulting with the local managers for their input. This is a company that has a great local atmosphere at all of the stores I worked at in Southern California, and it can be swept out from under you for absolutely no legitimate reason at any time. If you are going to work here, my best advice is to not be concerned with going above and beyond with helping out around the store and impressing your immediate superiors. You should only be concerned with the metrics you are being judged on for your ONE specific role at the location. If you start helping out with other departments, making the store more cohesive in general, and learning other aspects of the jobs at a location, this may impress your managers, but has zero impact on whether or not you will stay at the company. It will merely give you a false sense of confidence from people who ultimately do not decide if you stay or go.
