Pros

If you want to lead a comfortable life, this is the company to work for. It's a very big company, so the work load is always divided and you will always get your comfort time.

Cons

As I mentioned that the work load is less, so the learning you will be expecting in the IT field is not much. So, if you want to have a good working experience in the IT industry, ITS division of Tata Steel is not for that.

Decent company - Overrated brand

Pros

Learning organization - provides opportunities to learn and develop in a secure environment Good medical benefits policy for spouse and parents Decent salary and emoluments, not special but good

Cons

Slow, dull and not dynamic at all No policy for internal career planning and growth of employees Middle management is very poor and self centered - mostly filled with yes men. Differing opinions are subdued and creativity stifled Departmental chiefs treat them as their personal fiefdoms, hardly any inter-departmental co-ordination, more time is spent on blame-shifting and saving their own skin then actually getting some work done Semi-governmental approach - pseudo meritocracy is practised in the name of internal interviews for promotions etc which is a sham and the annual appraisal system sucks big time. The salary increment for a promotion from IL5 to IL4 after 4-5 years of labour works out to a measly 5-6k a month, or rs 50-60k annually..even lower if you consider it post tax....!! there is no incentive for real talent and ambitious people to stay for the long term unless they have some family or medical issues for which the organization is great
