Typical Large Company

Pros

1) The starting pay is definitely a plus for the position. 2) There are decent advancement opportunities but they can be forced upon the associate at times. 3) It is not a job where you are going to be spending a lot of time at a desk. 4) 3 or 4 day work weeks depending on which key you are assigned to.

Cons

1) It is a typical large company. Each associate is a number to upper management. 2) The advancement opportunities are there but a lot the times, they are just lateral moves to another department as a GL. At my location, they would sometimes "force" the GL to move to another department and different key after about 18 months so relationships between GLs and team members aren't too deep. 3) They tell you that you will work either a 10 hour day or 12 hour day, but in reality, it is much longer. If you work 4pm-2am, you are expected to be there at about 2:30pm and will usually be able to leave around 2:30am if it is a very slow day. 4) Some team members end up making much more than the GLs. 5) The management is forced to not care about the associates. One example includes forced overtime where a TM was forced to work a Sunday from 6am-6pm. The TM couldn't work it because of their other job which was as the same time. The TM said they could not work because of the other job, but was more than willing to work the following day for the overtime. Instead of accommodating the TM, the GL was forced to write up the TM who had been with Target for 20+ years. 6) Work/life balance is poor at best. Some GLs are forced to work other key's shifts. 7) The DC's are only closed one day. There are no holidays and time off is hard to come by. 8) If you have worked for a small-to-midsize company, you are not going to be a fan of Target's policies and culture.

Pros

-Great Benefits -High Paying -401k -Great Schedule -Voluntary Overtime opportunities (if you want to make a little extra. I first started as a Seasonal, after My time was up they Hired me back as a Regular team member. One piece of advice I would give to anyone who is looking at starting as a Seasonal is to put everything you got into it and there is a shot you could get a job like I did.

Cons

Tough work environment Fast Pacing I am not going to lie but it is not an easy place to work, they pay well but they also expect a lot from the workers. The Job is not for everyone, I believe that more then half of the people hired on quit within the first month or two. There are weeks when it will be frustrating, there will probably be a lot of weeks where you feel like giving up but it gets better after awhile so hang in there.
