Pros

Target is very flexible, so your schedule really fits into your everday life. They also have a lot of advancement opportunities, since they are such a large corporation. You get to learn all aspects of the retail industry, whether it is apparel, electronics, groceries, or toys.

Cons

Target is very cheap. They believe in handing more money out to the public instead of their workers. They don't give many hours to their regular sales associates, but they have their management team doing the bulk of the work. They also do not like to promote their good workers to better positions. If they feel like you are more beneficial to that store, they will do anything possible to keep you in that store, instead of allowing you to move up.

Pros

It offers you a great short term experience of working in a fast paced and innovative company. It gives you a better understanding of how a Fortune 100 company operates in it's daily functions. It truly is one of the top ten corporations in the country when it comes to innovation and marketing. Target also does a lot with guest speaker series on anything from fashion, product design and innovation all the way to local politics and how it effects big box retailers. The ability to see leaders in these fields speak on average once a month was very beneficial to my career development.

Cons

Target does not do a good job of recognizing and retaining talent. It has such a strong "culture" that it casts off anybody who doesn't think or act like everyone else. People who conform move up, people that are diverse in thought and think for themselves, get pushed out. With the ever-changing demographic of America, Target HQ will have to reflect it's costumer base sooner than later. Diversity is recognized as a company initiative but it is all for show. Senior leadership does not buy into the value and importance of diversity at headquarters and the result is a lot of people that act the same and are the same.

Pros

Fun place to work. Good people. Good pay. Good benefits. overtime is always available too.

Cons

Long hours. Not enought recognition. More notice when shifts will be changing would be helpful to all employees. So that there is a work life balance that all full or partime employees could adhere to their scheudles better too this would also help alot with morale since it can be low sometimes when you don't know when your schedule is.
