Pros

Best reasons to work Target? Thats easy. The pay and benefits. You gain more over the years but its very competive. The only other reason? There are many positions available. You can work for Target for years and years and not really get bored, as long as you are getting new positions.

Cons

This easy. The schedule is horrible. As a leader you have to close one night a week (often being there until midnight - way later during the holidays) and you also have to work every other weekend. You open one weekend a month and close one weekend a month. During your weekends on, you work six days in a row, but you get three days off the following the week. Doesnt sound so bad, but when you have families and events, two weekends out of the month sucks. Then you have team members under you that are begging for hours year round because they get cut so much and would do anything to work those Saturday and Sunday hours. The upper manangement is a joke (ETL's). They dont get paid much more than most of the team leaders, but are required to work way longer hours and they are on salary. They are like corporate puppets really. The team leaders are the ones that actually make the building and the business function, but yet, the hour long lunch goers get all the credit. Thats another thing, if you are a team leader, don't expect a lot of recognition, because you wont get it. If you want a good paying job, come to Target. But just remember you work your ass off with little or no recognition and the schudule is miserable.

Pros

Culture encourages personal connections with co-workers. I made a lot of great friends, and had a chance to participate in some very cool brand building activities. Overall, Target is a fun place to work.

Cons

Limited professional growth opportunities. Target leadership is so young; they step into positions that are too big for them, then spend all of their time (focusing on self development) trying to live up to the responsibility, which seldom leaves room for team development
