Pros

Usually a fun place to work, management works with your personal life and other obligations, and you are given the opportunity to cross-train in other areas of the store to pick up a couple more hours a paycheck.

Cons

Target tends to terminate employees for simple violations at times, most of time violations not intentional. They often do this to stay within their store budget and district objectives. This is a good explanation as to why Target persuades or indoctrinates their employees to not join a union. I recommend you join a union or not work for Target to avoid future conflict. Target also is tight on their hours as well and it is not uncommon to be scheduled only 4 hours a day at some locations, again so management can meet their budget objectives and receive their bonus.

Pros

Supports you to develop into a better employee/advance in your career A challenging place to work Mostly great people to work with

Cons

Can sometimes be stressful due to the amount of workload. You are challenged as a leader and frequently have prioritize. Upper management will then challenge you to work on they want.

Pros

The pay is very good for retail and their is some work life balance if you are management you get every other weekend off!

Cons

Due to our current economic position there has been a lot of changes made within the company. Targets modo Expect More Pay Less, however it should be [they] expect more with less. I have been with the company for 6 years and I've never seen employee moral so low. Target used to do fun events and other things to recognize their employees and make the company feel different from most retail places, however that has changed. Morale is low, and management is too busy playing politics with the store managers, so there is lack of communication, and everyone is telling on one another for pointless things, because they are in fear of losing their jobs due to downsizing, and the plain fact that Target is easily parting ways for employees these days. Management has become, in my opinion, dysfunctional and Morale is low between lower level employees because they can see it. Everyone is fake so it's hard to trust your peers when you know that everyone is looking out for themselves instead of working cohesively. The company is going away from internal promoting, so growth from that level has slowed. In the past six months I've seen more management, from team leaders, to executive team leaders, to Store managers, leave than I have ever seen. Mind you these employees had been with the company 8, 10, and one I know even 13 years. That's a long time to devote to a company, and all of a sudden leave for jobs that weren't paying you as much!
