Pros

The product is awesome. It's easy to sell a genuinely awesome product you know can help people. The product is an industry leader and SF is even bigger so the names alone help the sale.

Cons

SF killed the company I loved. Tableau wasn't perfect but it was pretty amazing all things considered. Big enough company to carry a global name, yet there was a lot of room for creative freedom regarding how you owned and operated your business and your time. SF completely murdered all sense of individuality and creativity. It's extremely corporate now. Red tape everywhere. Everything has a process... almost all preposterously long and convoluted. More mandatory trainings than I've ever seen... I have nothing against training if they are actually going to bring value. But they roll out mandatory trainings just to tick boxes. TOTAL LACK OF DIVERSITY. OMG, can we have more white men in leadership roles? Nope. Just an endless sea of mediocre white men who only want to lead for the titles with their bros.

Pros

A sales job at Tableau is usually pretty easy to get, just memorize a demo and you're in! It actually is a great product, so the conversations you'll have with customers are enjoyable. The office is cool and in a nice location. Work-life balance is good.

Cons

Since the job is so easy to get, you'll often find yourself surrounded by people that bring so little to the table that it makes you question your own career choices. Then there's the micromanagement, which one finds at every company with a few thousand people, but Tableau takes the cake; there are so many layers and so many "managers" that add absolutely no value (unless, of course, value is defined as lowering employee morale). Career progression hardly exists in the sales org. Sure, some roles have been created to be able to "progress" people, but the harsh reality is that there are not a lot of people that truly move up the ladder. What makes the situation more unfortunate, is that those people are almost exclusively the ones that spend more time on office politics than with their clients. Combine all of the above with pay that is well below the industry standard and you'll understand why a company with a great product and nice office has such a low Glassdoor score and why people are constantly leaving.

Pros

This company has phenomenal products and that is what makes it successful. Simply world class.

Cons

Mediocre people. Company claims to take great strides in hiring the right employee by making the process long and ends up getting all the bad ones. They talk about culture quite a bit. But, respect, collaboration, honesty can all be missing. Mediocre people will have to violate all these to survive and that is exactly what it happens. You can fire half of them and still be ok. There are roles which are basically "looking for things to do" and hence can impede you doing the work. New blood like head of sales bring Oracle type of approach which screws up culture to an even larger extent. Company tends to hire more in wrong roles (training management, customer ops, commercial) and less in really needed areas (services). Self service is far from reality with this product and needs services to do any anything meaningful. International regions are worst. They have been there for a while and hence have the entitlement mentality. They also do their own thing. Can't get anything done with them since they think USA is trying to enter their territory. Quota is assigned randomly. Some will do 1000% and others will do 20% of quota. No worries. Still the low performers can hang around because the company has no clue in quota assignment. Partiality, favoritism and back biting are the norm.
