Pros

Good vacation time. You can develop skills in certain areas such as product safety, emc, testing, etc.

Cons

TUV seems to fire people or lay them off when they start making too much money or get too old. Note that too much money by their standards isn't really very much money either. The salaries at TUV are low compared to other salaries in the Bay Area and Southern California. For example, an EMC engineer at a manufacturer is going to make a lot more than an EMC engineer at TUV. You could put in 10 years at TUV as an Engineer in the Bay Area and be still be making less than 100k. Management at TUV changes all the time. When I was there, they brought in several sales and operations 'experts' only to lay off said experts within a few months.
