Pros

Cooking classes seem fun. Discount can be helpful. Free Coffee samples.

Cons

Discount is only on suggested retail price, so the inflated prices from SLT typically save you 10%-20% off actual retail cost. Many times the promotional sales are better than your discount. Employees are authorized to give discounts from coupons to make a sale, but employees themselves don't get the same treatment.Management makes it hard for you to take a free cooking class. KA's typically end up being glorified dishwashers, but the chefs are very professional and great to work with. There is NO training for pretty much every position from sales to management to culinary instructors. You will get your apron and be expected to figure it out. Management gets mad if you ask too many questions because you were never given clarification, and will prevent you from training employees so they can have you greet, cashier, or empty trash. I've worked with a handful of managers who all have their own personality quirks, and can't seem to get along with each other. Nobody is on the same page, so that rolls downhill. Schedules at our location came out 1-2 days in advance, and paychecks would be inaccurate. Pay was too low, and the store wasn't safe since there was no organization or systems in place. Empty promises from management and many shifts where employees don't get a break and the management just "writes it in". Management at the bay area locations would continually change the schedule and expect you to work overtime or when you are sick. Inappropriate behavior is likely, and you could easily get yelled at by certain management staff. All in all, it looks like the company has potential but the management is awful and the pay is low for what is expected. No PTO for part timers, and no benefits. No commission, and the bonus for leads is pathetic at $35-$50 a month. $10-$11 an hour for sales associates and $12-$14 for floor leads are available but good luck getting top dollar. They're happy to take your money and your work, but not so generous in giving back or being concerned with your well being.
