Pros

40% employee discount. Sometimes you get to eat leftover food. I've learned how to use a knife properly. That's basically it but glassdoor wants 20 words minimum ummmmmmm

Cons

Shifts are too short. Not enough hours. You're not allowed to accept tips! Some of the chefs are terribly negative and rude, which is just a general bummer. I've gotten in trouble for trivial things. There is absolutely no training other than being able to download the employee handbook during the application process. For my first few weeks, I could tell I was bothering the rest of the team because I had no idea what I was supposed to do. They expect you to learn everything—everything—by osmosis.

Pros

Great coworkers and a solid company. I enjoyed working with cooking supplies. Most of those that work here enjoy food and cooking.

Cons

It's a retail job. Hours are hardly consistent. Pay is better than most retail jobs, but not great.

Pros

Good discount, learn a lot of skills on the job, lots of good work experience that will come in useful if you want to apply anywhere as a prep/line cook.

Cons

Orders that come from corporate sometimes seem out of touch. Management sometimes too fixated on "making the numbers", not willing to spend money to make money/listen to employee suggestions. A lot of product training/education is left to employees to "figure it out". High turnover, so it seems like there are always new employees to be trained. Very little team-building or focus on employee satisfaction. No opportunities for advancement. Pay is minimum.
