Pros

I worked for Sur La Table for years and the culture in our Raleigh store was always upbeat and fun. Great employee discount!

Cons

The corporate culture is terrible. No one is paid a living wage or even the going retail salary for the area and the workload and responsibilities keep increasing. They’ve churned through multiple GMs and the latest one is a nightmare. People are quitting, we are grossly understaffed, and moral is low.

Pros

-Employee discount -Amazing products and tons of people who share a love for all things cooking

Cons

-Upper management (not just on the retail side, I'm also talking corporate) have no idea what they are doing. Somehow more incompetent than the Halloween store job I had as a teenager. -Absolutely no consideration for the worker, less so than nearly everywhere else I have worked. The company brands itself as a progressive and forward-thinking work environment but they are actually somehow worse than most places. -Corporate does not care how the store itself functions and only cares about their own numbers and making sure they do not get in trouble. Our stock room was not only overflowing with product but there were pallets laid around the floor along with other misc. items just because there was no where to put them. Not to mention how over-stacked the boxes and product were. OSHA? Hello? -Horrid system for assisting customers. You have to take the item, write down what it is and look it up on one computer. Then you have to look it up on the POS to see if it is actually in stock, and even then, it does not account for product that is still on a pallet. Only then do you get the joy of spending forever in the stock room trying to find said product. Meanwhile the customer (understandably so) is getting more and more frustrated at how long they are having to wait for a single item. -No room for growth whatsoever. If you are looking for somewhere to move up, this is not it.
