Where can I start???

Pros

Because the turnover rate is soooo high, you're constantly being asked to work more hours.

Cons

Where can I start... Management DOES NOT HELP when customers call in asking to speak to a manager. You can spend 10 minutes on the phone trying to deescalate a conversation with an irate customer and it still wont work. Your supervisor will still blame YOU. Also, Startek expects you to make it to work even if the weather is so bad your car can't even make it out of the driveway, all because they refuse to shut down the site, despite every other business being closed in the shopping center it is located in.

Pros

relaxed atmosphere, ability to work occasional overtime.

Cons

Call center environment means you are at their mercy. I was terminated for violating a call policy I was unaware existed.

Treat people like robots

Pros

It is a consistent, boring, steady job and most of the employees are genuinely good people. However, not if they hold any authority.

Cons

Startek is a business processing outsourcer, so basically they get paid to find people to work for other companies who need cheap labor. Their clients include Comcast, T-Mobile, and Grubhub. I can only speak for the Comcast section of the Lynchburg location. If you work for that section, what you do is receive calls from angry Comcast customers who have been told you have a four year degree when really all you get is three weeks of outdated training courses. Customers are transferred to you by agents overseas who have built the expectation that you are an expert on all things Comcast. Most of the computers are faulty, and the programs are either completely outdated or are temperamental at best. It's basically being paid to get yelled at by not only customers, but also scolded by supervisors, team leaders, and managers if you do anything wrong. It is hell. If you really need money and minimum wage isn't quite enough and you can't find anything else at all, then this is the job for you, because they will literally hire anyone. Bring cigarettes, because even if you don't smoke before you start, you certainly will after.
