Pros

most of the , leadership really did "walk the talk" about following the mission statement and guiding principles, and it trickled down to the way everybody else treated each other. It's great to work for a place where everyone is so excited about the product, even if they work in a support department that has nothing to do with coffee directly.

Cons

there was a lot of talk about "transformation" in the last 6 month, but it didn't feel very focussed. Many people wanted to know what they could do to help or change, but weren't getting good direction because leadership wasn't available, focussed upwards not downwards.

Pros

people are great - passion for what they do and how they do it. benefits are great - the office environment is comfortable and is great to work in. the building has great kitchens for all your coffee needs.

Cons

management confusion - lots of hurry up and wait. decisions based on fears of earnings not what's best for the company. lack of vision or course to follow.

Pros

Free coffee - what else?

Cons

It's like being in the greek system and heaven help you if you don't have the clothes to work there. This company grew way too quickly, and had, when I was there, way, way, way too many managers of one person. It was staggering to watch the amount of time spent talking about social awareness, but see how clueless these same people could be interpersonally. The hiring bar was low and focused more on soft skills vs. execution. A pervasive attitude of working towards the greater good was suffocating there, and they actually believed that they were helping the poor coffee farmers they bought from. Not to mention the huge blinders when it came to the "Starbuckization" of coffee culture, which they claim to carry a torch for.
