Pros

Working at Starbucks has helped me improve my interpersonal/social skills immensely. Every day I meet new people and after each interaction I can apply what I have learned to the next interaction. The job is very rewarding personally--I have met a lot of friends and I basically get paid to improve my social skills (actively engaging in conversation, reading people, relating, effectively delivering message) and to practice being more patient and aware. Also, I am eligible for medical benefits as long as I work around 20 hours a week.

Cons

I have worked at Starbucks for two years now and the pay isn't awful but it doesn't seem competitive. However, I get the health insurance from Starbucks and it makes up for the pay for me.

Pros

Wonderful partners to work with! Great training program (after it was revised) It feels like a second home and your coworkers and regular customers are like a seconds family! You learn SO MUCH about coffee and tea (if you keep reading learning materials and training manuals). I am a tea expert now after working at Starbucks and reading about all the different types of teas.

Cons

They put a freeze on hiring assistant managers so most stores run with only one manager. It is too much for one person to handle and the manager becomes too stressed out. The shift supervisors pick up the slack and basically manage the store without being compensated for it.
