Pros

Starbucks is a cool company and I enjoyed learning about coffee.

Cons

I was disappointed in how icy/cold the environment was in the corporate office. I would walk by people in the halls and they wouldn't make eye contact. I always said hi and smiled and people seemed to be shocked when I did. I've never worked somewhere like this before and don't want to in the future.

Pros

Free Coffee, gym, intelligent people, subsidized commuting fees, discounts at retail locations, not a lot of good things to say besides that.

Cons

Terrible leadership, They lead by fear, no transparency, they do not support industry certifications, they do not pay anything for advanced education, Leaders think they are above everyone else and won't give you the time of day, Leaders often are not very experienced outside of this company. I have seen them bring in good experienced people only to have them to do all of the heavy lifting add then force them out and then take credit for their work. I've witnessed harassment, bullying and a crazy amount of bad mouthing to the detriment of others careers. HR is useless and when people have gone to them about issues those people end up not working here anymore. We went 6 months coming in everyday not knowing if we would have a job, did you hear about that in the news? Turnover has been high and I've seen people leave after only a few days here.

Pros

Starbucks as a company promotes teamwork, diversity and treating coworkers with respect. You get great coffee perks and the opportunity to work at a company that is doing great things. IT Projects are interesting from the technical perspective and contribute to business objectives.

Cons

Passive aggressive culture dominates in IT. The level of diversity has eroded to the point where it resembles a Silicon Valley employer. Anyone who is different risks being ostracized. People don’t honor their commitments and it takes constant badgering to get things done. Leadership is not strong, frequently shoots the messenger, and seems content to let unprofessional behavior slide.
